The things you gotta do

This leaflet arrived in our letter box this morning. It’s 12cm by 23cm, on heavy paper / light card, with glossy print. Not cheap.

Side 1:
We listened. We learned. And WorkChoices is dead.

(Description: White print on blue background. “We listened. We learned. And WorkChoices is dead.”)

Side 2:
We will not bring back Workchoices. WorkChoices is dead. WorkChoices is dead and any suggestion to the contrary is wrong. (Signed) Tony Abbott. Stand up for Australia. Stand up for real action.

(Description: White print on blue background. “We will not bring back Workchoices. WorkChoices is dead. WorkChoices is dead and any suggestion to the contrary is wrong.” (Signed) Tony Abbott. Photo of Abbott sitting at a table, flanked by senior Liberal MPs, looking chairman-of-the-boardish. He is holding his hand out in explanatory mode and speaking. The others are listening. “Stand up for Australia. Stand up for real action.”)

Evidently Liberal party polling is telling them that workers vote too. I wonder how wide the distribution of this leaflet is. For the record, I’m in Adelaide, in the Sturt electorate, currently held by Chris Pyne for the Liberals, and likely to stay that way, unless the hometown “We love Julia” effect has an impact.

Australian readers, have you received it?

  1. One of the fascinating things about this is the total absence of the LP Logo/brand

  2. I’m totally getting the shits with all the election guff clogging up our letterbox (pity it doesn’t fall into the ‘no junk mail’ category). So far we’ve had about 4-5 fat envelopes (including ones telling us how to lodge absentee votes) and it’s still friggin’ weeks to go!

  3. Oh, I don’t think we got that one tho (we got a different one).

  4. I am in a long long time Nationals seat in a rural area IN SE Victoria and we haven’t seen anything like that. There is a buckleys to none chance of the Libs getting in here so maybe they aren’t going to bother.

Can you please photograph and upload the wording in small black print at the bottom of the second page beneath the group photo?

  6. Photo to come, but in the meantime, it’s authorised by “Christopher Pyne MP” and it gives his electorate office address. It’s paid for out of “his printing and communications budget.”

  7. Sorry – my camera is not up to it. However you have the key detail i.e. it was authorised by Chris Pyne.
