Spot the problem(s) in this story:
It’s on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) site: Sex offender gets suspended sentence.
I don’t want to comment on whether or not the sentence is appropriate – I wasn’t sitting in the court room. But I do start to despair when even the ABC describes rape as “sex.”
Get this: an underage child CAN’T CONSENT to sex. That means that it is rape, not sex. Call it “statutory rape” if you must, but don’t cover it up with weasel words, and pretend that it ain’t so bad.
